Our History

Rossburg Acres Party with a Purpose (PWAP) didn’t start out as what it is today. It all began in 2008 as a simple, yet powerful act of kindness—a fundraiser for a family staying at the campground who was facing difficult medical challenges. That grassroots effort sparked something special, and soon after, a dedicated committee came together to form what became known as the Cara Siefring Memorial Campout.

For years, the Cara Siefring Memorial Campout made a lasting impact by raising funds for local families fighting cancer and offering hope and relief during their toughest battles. The committee worked tirelessly to carry on Cara’s memory through their generosity and dedication. When the Siefring family decided to retire the event in Cara’s name, honoring what would have been her 18th birthday, many believed that chapter had come to a close.

But the spirit of the campout was too powerful to let go. A passionate group of individuals from the campground didn’t want to see this incredible tradition of giving come to an end. Out of that desire to continue the mission, Rossburg Acres Party with a Purpose—also known as PWAP—was born.

PWAP officially became a nonprofit organization in 2022 and they hosted their very first event under the new name. Since that time, through the overwhelming generosity of the community, PWAP has raised over $300,000, which has helped 50 plus families. The mission continues—supporting local families in surrounding counties who are facing overwhelming medical expenses.

Throughout the summer, PWAP sells golf cart raffle tickets and hosts smaller fundraisers leading up to the big event in September. The annual Party with a Purpose weekend includes live and silent auctions, raffles, music, and activities for all ages—a true celebration of community and compassion.

We, the PWAP committee, are honored and blessed to have the support of so many amazing people from Rossburg Acres and the surrounding areas who donate their time, talents, items, and financial gifts. It’s because of this support that we’re able to help lift the burdens of local families in need—offering them not just financial assistance, but hope, strength, and a reminder that they are not alone.
